60 Nigeria Police Force Trained on TIPSOM National Legislations

As part of the activities within the framework of the project, Action Against Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants (A-TIPSOM) which is funded by European Union, the International and Ibero-America Foundation for Administration and Public Policy (FIIAPP) continued her organizational capacity strengthening through a Two-Day training for officers of Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of NPF on TIPSOM National Legislations in South Western, Nigeria with focus on TIPPEA Act, SOM sections of Immigration Act, VAPP Act etc.

The training constitutes part of the capacity building program from the project to the beneficiaries aimed at enhancing service delivery by Law Enforcement Agents to ensure their operations and interface with general public is guided by provisions of their enabling laws so as to prevent abuse of power and engender enviable service delivery. Thus, a tailored and dedicated training for personnel of Anti-Human Trafficking Units of the Nigeria Police Force was organized for a carefully selected strategic officers of the force from the South-Western Region of the country most especially those with functions and operational delivery on the provisions of various national policies and legislations used to combat the scourge of TIP in Nigeria

Participants were drawn from the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Departments from the South Western States and Kogi and Kwara States. Over 60 personnel of NPF attended the training which held on 6th and 7th April 2022 at Ibadan, Oyo State.
